Frequently asked questions

How do I measure an area on a map?
Search for your address, then tap the satellite map to drop a corner at each bend of your boundary. After three corners the area and perimeter update live with every point you add or drag. Switch between acres/feet and hectares/meters any time.
How accurate is measuring area on a satellite map?
For well-placed corners on clear imagery, drawn measurements typically land within 1–2% of a professional survey — accurate enough for seeding, fertilizing, quoting and planning. For legal boundaries you still need a licensed surveyor.
Can I measure acreage on my phone?
Yes — this tool works in any mobile browser. For measuring while you're standing on the land, the Field Area Measure Map iPhone app adds hands-free GPS boundary walking and offline maps for fields with no cell signal.
How do I measure the perimeter of my property?
The perimeter readout appears automatically as you draw — every side length is labeled on the map, and the total updates live. Use the fence calculator page to measure a single line instead of a closed shape.
Is this area calculator really free?
Yes. Measuring, cutouts, unit conversion and perimeter are free on the web with no account and no ads. The iPhone app adds GPS walking, offline maps, folders and pro exports (KML, Shapefile, CSV, PDF).
